eames lounge chair update

An amazing find for an incredible deal, a few bucks spent to get some broken parts repaired, some patience, a tiny bit of elbow grease and its back to perfect condition!

O'Natural

The La Jolla Woman's Club set the scene for a fabulous luncheon held for employees of Kashi. They will be launching a natural lifestyle curriculum website. It's really cool and kind of a big deal. It will have tasks and activities and a wealth of information about natural lifestyle.

I created simple and natural arrangements. The lows designed with hydrangea, Queen Anne's lace, lady's mantle, chamomile, tweedia, and mint to add greenery and a subtle scent. The highs designed with calla lilies, curly willow branches, and hydrangea.

my hidden oasis

One of my favorite places to go relax and regroup, Bergamot Spa in Leucadia, has moved. I went to check out their new location on Vulcan and I was really taken back. I knew the new location would be just as amazing as their first, but it was even bigger and better than I imagined. Picture #1 above is where they do all of their nails. Off the left side of that building is where they do hair. Picture #2 above looks onto the grounds with the future site of the yoga studio to the left. Picture #3 captures a massage hut and meditation hut, both over a huge koi pond.

After a tour of the new grounds, it was off to what will eventually be their yoga studio for my 90 minute massage with Natalie, who I highly recommend! I pulled my power thought card and it couldn't have been more right on! I'll admit, I fell asleep during the massage. It was wonderfully relaxing.

Go check it out for yourself. Be prepared to leave the daily stressors at the door.

Brooke and Mike ~ Temple Beth Israel/Riverwalk Golf Club, San Diego 7/18/09

I LOVED creating the floral design for Brooke and Mike's wedding. Brooke was so fun to work with and she wasn't afraid of color! From orangey corals to pinks and creams, everything came together very organically. The ceremony took place at Temple Beth Israel in Old Town. Historic and beautiful, it was the perfect location for the intimate ceremony. Strung orchids and drapes complemented the chuppah. Riverwalk Golf Club was the location for the reception. The tablescapes were designed with curly willow and orchids set in split peas.

Eames Era Plycraft Lounge Chair and Ottoman - $375 (Vista)

you know you want it.

this just doesn't happen

My husband and I love Palm Springs. It's close to home. It's pure relaxation. Throw a little mid-century modern furniture shopping in and we're in heaven. I'm so lucky to share a passion for furniture with my husband. We actually look forward to trying to find that one "piece" for the house. We hit up all the usual spots and there was a lot of , "Oh babe, you have to see this!" We were looking for a couch that would fit into the back of the volvo, one that would replace the monster in our living room. A smaller one, with clean lines and that is still comfy...like this one from Room and Board. We didn't find a couch, but we did find was this in walnut and ivory. However, it didn't look quite like the picture. We found it upstairs with all the other clearance furniture in the corner and in two pieces. The backrest was disconnected from the seat, the arms were on the wrong side, the bottom on backwards, it had come unglued, and was a little dirty....all totally fixable! It was a bit like adopting a pet from the shelter. People would come and go through the store, see the chair in pieces and keep walking.

We were so excited (visual: my husband rubbing his hands together with a crazy smile on his face). Could this be happening? How could this $3,049.00 chair have a $500.00 price tag? Oh yeah, it was in two pieces and appeared unfixable, but we were the luckiest people ever! We didn't want to appear overly excited because other customers would begin to wonder what all the buzz was about. No one could move in on our chair! Albeit somewhat of an impulse buy since we had just purchased a copy of the real thing the weekend prior, this was the real deal! Our excitement and optimism spread to the saleslady who thought it a bit amusing that my husband thought he could bring it back to its original glory. She lowered the price to $400.00! So, after paying $375, the chair was ours. Ha! The same price we paid for the copy the weekend prior. AMAZING! The saleslady told us to send her a picture when it was fixed and in our living room. Will do!
